Each week, we open special selections to offer by-the-glass or as a tasting flight in addition to the 30+ wines we offer by the glass on Mondays and Tuesdays.
This Week’s Feature:
Rhône Reds
The Rhône Valley in Southern France is one of the world’s great wine regions. The area is divided geographically into two sub-regions: the Northern Rhône, and the Southern Rhône. It is also the traditional home of the Syrah grape, which has been planted in this part of France for two millennia.

The Wines
Côtes-du-Rhône, Guicharde (Syrah/Grenache), Côtes-du-Rhône, 2007
Côtes-du-Rhône is an AOC consisting of 171 villages located throughout the entire Rhône valley, and serves as the entry level appellation for Rhône wines. The Guicharde Côtes-du-Rhône is light-to-medium-bodied, with plums, notes of crushed berries, and just a touch of black pepper on the finish

Beaumes-de-Venise, (Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre), Fenouillet,
‘Terres Blanches’ Beaumes-de-Venise, 2006
Beaumes-de-Venise is a small town located in the southern part of the Rhône Valley. The climate is warmer in the Southern Rhône, and as a result, this wine is more full-bodied, with darker fruit on the palate, and some earthier notes. Mourvèdre is also blended in this wine, which adds a bit more spice as well.
